@mofu.run The main reason AFAIK was simply because for “normie” users, used more to Twitter’s For You than a pure following-only feed, the standard scenario was that someone signs up, follows 3 accounts, opens the app a few times, announces that “Bluesky is a desert, it’s empty here” and leaves forever 🤷🏻‍♂️
